Should i get two monitors

Try closing out of your inbox for the day, or setting reminders for yourself to check it periodically, as opposed to flipping screens or tabs constantly. As they say, an idle brain makes you check your inbox—a lot. You might think that having two screens in front of you would provide more distractions than only having one.

However, the opposite is true. With a dual monitor setup, you no longer have to switch between tabs while you are working and can view everything at once without interrupting your workflow. There are many benefits to using a dual monitor setup. Despite the apparent increase in productivity, there are other ways that this type of setup can help your computer experience.

Dual monitors are extremely easy to use, especially considering the many advantages that they can provide. Using two monitors is no different than using a single— anyone who can already use a computer can instantly adapt to having an extra screen.

Moving a window or application from one monitor to another is as simple as dragging it from one screen to the next. Most applications will typically remember which monitor you use it on so, after the initial setup, the computer will know what programs you want to open on each monitor.

Using dual monitors lets you move and see multiple windows at once. One massive advantage of dual monitors is that they are compatible with laptops and mobile devices.

Laptops typically have small screens that can be more challenging to work on. But when you easily attach a second monitor, you more than double your workspace. You can even work from your mobile device by using a docking station to cast your phone screen onto a second monitor. Dual monitors essentially give you double the desktop space , which reduces the cluttering on your screen.

Is your desktop full of pinned apps and documents? You can move some of them to the second screen and free up some of the space that they take up. Having a dual monitor setup opens up a whole new world of possibilities. And anything you can do with one monitor, you can still do with a dual setup. However, the real benefit comes from some cool features that having a second monitor allows for. Here are some things you can do with a dual monitor setup.

Video sharing apps, like Zoom, often allow screen sharing during a video call. That way, when you move your cursor to the left, it'll appear in the same spot on the left monitor rather than jump up or down on the screen. You may have to do a little trial and error to get them lined up properly. Scroll down to the Scale and layout section to adjust the resolution of each monitor and its scaling. So, if one monitor is 4K and the other is p, you can set each monitor to its native resolution but increase the scaling on the higher-resolution one, so your windows appear the same size on each.

If you want to set up a monitor in portrait mode, you can do that here, too. To go even further, you can use each monitors' built-in settings to adjust brightness and color to make them match as closely as possible. Once you're done tweaking all these settings, your monitors should match up much more closely, making it easier and more pleasant to move windows between them. By default, Windows 10 will extend your taskbar to both monitors, which can be handy—though you can customize it a bit further to your liking.

Right-click on the taskbar and choose Taskbar Settings. There are a lot of useful options here, but if you scroll down to the Multiple Displays section, you'll see what we're interested in. The first switch removes the taskbar from your secondary display.
